Commissioning Guide

industrial refrigeration system design

Before specifying an industrial refrigeration system design, resolve who supplies heat rejection and interconnecting refrigerant piping, and how staging plus one-package unavailability will be tested. A design figure that omits condenser duty, field piping, freight, installation and SAT labor is not comparable with a turnkey plant. This guide is a procurement dossier for document comparison. It is not an engineering stamp or a promise that SAT will pass on the first visit. No percentage saving versus a market average is published.

Document comparison

Document comparison: Sample run

Line up each quotation against refrigerant, evaporating and condensing temperatures, kW per temperature level, and whether FAT uses a shop calorimeter or an agreed representative evaporator. Ask every bidder to price the complete duty, including part-load staging. If one reply quotes swept volume only, mark that row as unmatched rather than converting m³/h into kW yourself.

Site readiness

Record condenser water or air the package assumes, plus three-phase supply, connected load, footprint and PLC interface. Confirm who supplies heat rejection and interconnecting refrigerant piping. If cooling water cannot meet the assumed condensing temperature, the quoted duty is not demonstrated. Installation piping, foundations and training hours should be marked included or excluded on the same comparison sheet.

Owner acceptance

Agree measurement locations for temperatures, pressures, delivered duty and electrical input, and write the method for evaluating any difference from the design point. Identify spare oil filters and who owns setpoint changes after handover. One catalog certificate does not cover this project’s FAT. Optional budget (currency, per-unit or whole-order) and premium / mid-range / budget-friendly preference guide search priority only; they are not verified factory ratings.

What decision must be resolved before specifying industrial refrigeration system design? Heat-rejection ownership, interconnecting refrigerant piping, and a written staging test when one package is unavailable. Those three items decide whether a design sheet is a compressor selection or a plant purchase. Cycle time language from packaging machinery does not apply; refrigeration SAT is temperatures, pressures and kW under named conditions.
